The container trowel has a unique, square shape so it can be used to scrape different soil layers. This design also allows it to dig larger planting holes. It can also be used to remove ingrown roots from (terracotta) pots. As the blade is flat, is not the best tool for scooping up material.

The container trowel can be fitted with either an ash wood handle or a handle made from cherry wood.
