The Sneeboer Royal Dutch Hand Hoe
A hand crafted hand held hoe equally at home in urban gardening as well as traditional gardens. A multifunctional tool which can be used with great success in raised beds, square foot planting, balcony and patio growing, heavily planted or mature herbaceous boarders, permanent container pots and window boxes. It is the most versatile garden tool that any gardener can own. The Royal Dutch Hand Hoe is very light at 170 grams and can be used effortlessly in the garden.
The perfect curved head of the hoe allows you to weed and aerate the soil in between plants with ease. Its forward and backward motion when used removes weeds effortlessly. Because of the design of the tool it works on the surface layers of the soil without digging in thereby reducing soil compaction or capping facilitating feeding and watering. The arms on either the side of the Royal Dutch Hoe act as a visual guide when working within confined spaces between plants enabling the tool to be manoeuvred very close to plants with ease.
Suggested history of the Royal Dutch Hand Hoe
The hand hoe tool was inspired by Mark Abbott-Compton at Learn How to Garden.com who had the idea for the tool because he needed a planting tool that worked in small spaces for his bespoke style of growing vegetables. Mark designed a prototype using wire and cardboard and sent off the model to Jaap Sneeboer to see what he thought of it. The rest as they say is history!
